PILDAT Virtual Forum on Role of National Security Committee

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Globally, elected governments rely on national security councils or similar bodies for expert advice when making National Security decisions. Join PILDAT Virtual Forum on the Role of National Security Committee where Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan’s former National Security Advisor, who was also responsible for designing Pakistan’s current National Security Committee, addresses pressing questions such as the impact and evolution of such bodies and their role in improving inter-institutional relations.

We will be joined by Sir Mark Lyall Grant, MCGC, who has served as National Security Advisor in United Kingdom, as he sheds light on the National Security Council in the UK, its evolution and what role it has played in institutionalizing democratic decision-making in the UK.

Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, President PILDAT, will open the forum on the importance of institutionalising decision-making on national security in democratic societies and why it has special significance for Pakistan.

Ms. Aasiya Riaz, Joint Director PILDAT, will moderate the conversation ranging from questions such as why the need to set-up a National Security Committee (NSC) in Pakistan and a National Security Council in UK was felt and the distinct experience of UK and Pakistan in this regard.

The Virtual Forum will be broadcast live across PILDAT’s social media pages on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.  The pre-scheduled links are given below. YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVceoQUtVLI Facebook: https://web.facebook.com/219593778067004/posts/5289711144388550/
