The Youth Parliament Pakistan® (YPP) is a unique platform for the Pakistani youth patterned after the National Assembly of Pakistan. The 17th YPP brought together Youth representatives from the 272 general constituencies of the National Assembly, as well as from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Overseas communities of Pakistanis. The idea behind facilitating a YPP is not just to put Pakistani Youth through a mock exercise of what Parliament does and how it should work, but to inculcate in them the values and culture of democracy as central to effective governance in any society. In many ways, the process of YPP is not just following the practices adopted by the Pakistani Parliament but also introducing concepts drawing from international best practices that improve upon the existing practices in Pakistan.
