Poltical Parties urged to give more representation to Youth in contesting elections

The first session of the series of 3 between the youth and the representatives of the political parties took place in Lahore on November 30, 2023 at Avari Hotel. Lahore. Representatives of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Jamate-e-Islami Pakistan represented their parties and put forward their plans for the youth. Pakistan Peoples Party was represented by Ms. Faiza Ahmed Malik, Former Member of the Punjab Assembly and president women’s wing, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz was represented by Ms. Salma Butt, Former member of the Punjab Assembly and member manifesto committee, whereas JIP was represented by Mr. Mian Usman Javed. Students from University of Management and Technology Lahore, Lahore Women College University and Government college university Lahore attended the session. A total of 45 students attended the session out of which 33% were females.The participants emphasized upon the representatives of the Political Parties that the political parties should give more representation to the youth with the party and also empower the youth to contest elections on party tickets so that the youth can feel empowered and their trust on the system can be restored.

The representatives of the political parties ensured that their leaderships were well aware of the concerns of the youth have already started taking steps to give more representation to the youth in the electoral processes of the country.
