The briefing paper is designed to act as an information booklet for parliamentarians to assist them in understanding the World Trade Organisation regime and how it impacts Pakistan. International policy decisions have a direct impact on our social and economic realities, thus creating a need for legislators to understand the currents of the global economy, and the need to work strategically with global powers. The World Trade Organisation presents both challenges and opportunities for Pakistan. This paper has been prepared to raise the awareness of legislators about WTO related issues, and to give them relevant information so they can contribute more significantly in negotiating Pakistan’s trade interests.
