2020 has been a tumultuous year. Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic has upended global life and economy. Global journey into the unknown has forced governments, including that in Pakistan, to grapple with policies and actions that are feared to leave behind significant socio-economic and socio-political wreckage.
How has 2020 impacted democratic governance and quality of democracy in Pakistan? To address this question, PILDAT has invited an esteemed panel to address various aspects of evolution of democracy. Join us to listen to Mr. Javed Jabbar, Former Senator; former Federal Minister for Information and Media Development, Syed Talat Husain, Broadcast Journalist, Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, President PILDAT and Ms. Aasiya Riaz, Joint Director PILDAT, to address some of the following key questions:
- Has the quality of democracy in Pakistan improved or deteriorated in 2020? What have been key developments seen in democratic governance by the elected Executive in centre and in provinces?
- How do you view performance of Parliament and Provincial Assemblies in 2020?
- What has been the role of Judiciary?
- Have political parties contributed to strengthening or weakening democracy in 2020?
The Virtual Forum will be livestreamed across PILDAT Social Media platforms on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 3 pm (PKT).
