This report, the third analytical report of the PILDAT series How Rich are Pakistani MNAs? is in your hands covering comparative analysis of the assets declared by MNAs belonging to the 13th National Assembly of Pakistan filed in 2007-2008 and 2008-2009. The sources of information for this report are the Gazettes published by the Election Commission of Pakistan on October 15 2008 and October 27 2009. According to the provisions of Section 42A of the Representation of the People Act 1976 and Section 25A of the Senate (Election) Act 1975, all elected representatives in the National and Provincial legislatures of Pakistan must submit detailed accounts of their assets and liabilities to the Election Commission of Pakistan on a prescribed proforma by the end of each financial year. Failure to submit a declaration may lead to disqualification of the elected member. The declared assets are compiled and published by the Election Commission in the form of a Gazette of the Federal Government for the information and use of general public.
