The briefing paper on Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper – PRSP is designed to act as an information booklet for parliamentarians to assist them in understanding the PRSP and their role in its development and implementation. Part one of the briefing paper outlines the process of developing the Poverty Reduction Strategy paper and explains the core principles underlying the PRSP ideology. Part two provides a summary of the draft PRSP prepared by the Government of Pakistan. The paper has been prepared to raise the awareness of legislators about the PRSP process, and to give them relevant information so that they can contribute more significantly towards its development and monitoring. The main objective of the paper is to enable parliamentarians to review the upcoming final PRSP with the aim of ensuring that it represents the interests of their constituents.
