PILDAT, in association with Pakistan-Afghanistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Senate of Pakistan, hosted the 9th Round of Pakistan-Afghanistan Parliamentarians’ Dialogue in Islamabad on September 24-25, 2013. th The purpose of the 9 Round of Dialogue was to bring together Afghan and Pakistani Parliamentarians to discuss the issues on Impact of Pre and Post Withdrawal Scenario 2014 on Pakistan and Afghanistan, relationship that is envisaged between Pakistan and Afghanistan post 2014 and Level of Mutual Assistance foreseen and required steps to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan: Focus on the Role of the Civil Society. A delegation of Six (6) Afghan Parliamentarians, belonging to the Meshrano Jirga had a detailed dialogue with their Pakistani counterparts on the contentious issues impacting the relations of the two countries. This report presents an overview of the 9th round of the Dialogue. PILDAT conceptualized and the initiated the project of building and deepening Parliamentary ties and relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan in 2008. Six joint workshops of Pakistani and Afghanistan Parliamentarians were held by PILDAT in 2008, 2009 and mid 2011.
