Experts project that the global water crisis will reach unprecedented levels in the years ahead with growing per capita scarcity of water in many parts of the developing world. In Pakistan, availability of water resources and their development has been slowly turning into a crisis situation and has reached a level of inter-provincial conflicts which immediately need to be addressed. This briefing paper aims to present the scenario in its available detail so as to provide concise and objective information to parliamentarians on the importance of water for the future of Pakistan and to enable them to take up the issue in the parliament for better policy initiatives and options.
