How to be an Effective Legislator; a PILDAT Course for KP MPAs

Peshawar, November 27; A short course on How to be an effective Legislator, focusing exclusively on enhancing the capacities of women MPAs of KP Assembly, was organized by PILDAT in collaboration with the International Republican Institute.

Mr. Nasrullah Khan, Secretary Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, gave his opening remarks highlighting the importance of these capacity building sessions and thanked PILDAT for organizing this session.

Addressing the participants, Mr. Atta Ullah Khan, Special Secretary Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, shared in detail the significance of learning about and using Rules of Procedure of KP Assembly to be effective legislators.

Ms. Maliha Asghar, Member of the Provincial Assembly of KP and Chairperson Women Parliamentary Caucus, spoke on the subject of importance of knowing and following rules of procedures to be an effective legislator and why each and every member must know rules to be fully aware of their rights.

Ms. Humaira Khatoon, Member of the Provincial Assembly of KP, raised the issue of work-life balance for Women Legislators and highlighted the importance of how to effectively manage time between family life and assembly life, while being an effective legislator.

The course saw active question and answer and discussion session by MPAs. Members who participated in the training included Ms. Sobia Shahid, MPA, Ms. Ayesha Bano, MPA, Ms. Maria, MPA, Ms. Madiha Nisar, MPA, Ms. Asia Saleh Khattak, MPA, Ms. Somi Falak Naz, MPA, Ms. Baseerat Khan, MPA, Ms. Sumaira Bibi, MPA, Dr. Asiya Asad, MPA, Ms. Sajida Hanif, MPA, Dr. Sumera Shams, MPA, Ms. Sitara Afreen, MPA and Ms. Rabia Basri, MPA.
