PILDAT held a two-day workshop for parliamentarians on “Federal Budget Process: How can Parliamentarians make effective contribution?” from May 26-27, 2003. The purpose of the workshop was to raise the awareness of elected legislators about the budget process in Pakistan, the role of legislators in the review and analysis of the budget, and to enhance their knowledge towards analysis and review of the budget so as to enable them to represent citizens’ interests. Speakers and resource persons at the workshop included the Federal minister of Finance, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Economic Advisor of the Government, former Federal Secretary of Finance, former Federal and Provincial Finance ministers and international experts. These proceedings contain the speeches, presentation and papers presented at the workshop, as well as transcripts of the Q&A sessions among the speakers and participants.
