Amendments to the Constitution of Pakistan

The briefing paper aims to familiarise the parliamentarians with the details of constitutional amendments made to the Constitution so far, as well as to provide a critical analysis of the role that previous parliaments played in handling the amendments. Authored by Mr. Hamid Khan, an academic expert in Constitutional Law and a Senior Advocate, the paper concludes that “The Constitution as it stands today is a completely different legal and political document than it was when originally passed in 1973”; the transformation that has led to this conclusion is narrated in the paper.
