Overview of 49^th Session of the National Assembly

Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, MNA, Prime Minister of Pakistan, did not attend a single sitting throughout seven (7) sittings in 49^th session of the National Assembly. Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Raja Riaz Ahmad, MNA, attended only 1 (14.29%) sitting held on February 1.On average, 93 or 42.73% MNAs marked their attendance during the 49^th session. It must be noted that the ECP de-notified a total of 124 MNAs including 123 PTI MNAs and 1 MNA of the Awami Muslim League as their resignations were accepted by the Speaker of the National Assembly.[1]

Prime Minister, however, attended the sole sitting of the National Assembly in 47^th session. Same is the case for the Leader of the Opposition though both chose not to attend the sole sitting of the 48^th session.
