The Balochistan Conflict, a background paper prepared for the PILDAT-facilitated Dialogue Group on Civil-Military Relations attempts to provide an overview and background information on the nature of conflict in Balochistan, various parties to the conflict and their perspectives and suggestions for resolving the conflict. The paper was presented at the meeting of Dialogue Group on Civil-Military Relations held on May 08, 2007. Authored by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Abdul Quadir Baloch, who has served as the Governor of Balochistan as well as Corps Commander Quetta, the paper traces the root and nature of Balochi discontentment and unrest in the larger political and economic makeup of the federation of Pakistan and makes recommendations for managing the insurgency and resolving the issues at the heart of conflict to the satisfaction of the people of Balochistan.
