This briefing paper aims to provide an overview of the South Punjab Secretariat’s role in decentralizing administration and enhancing service delivery. It outlines the rationale behind its creation, the achievements to date and the future steps necessary to strengthen governance in the region. The paper aligns with the overarching goals of the Citizen Engagement Program (CEP), HumAhang (In Harmony) – promoting citizen engagement and building resilience against violent extremism.
The HumAhang Program is designed to strengthen citizen engagement in governance to advance peace and social cohesion in key geographic areas, particularly South Punjab and North Sindh. This initiative is implemented by the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) in collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) and Blumont Pakistan.
